WASHINGTON– The Georgetown University men's tennis team blanked the Morgan State Bears 4-0 on Saturday morning to improve to 6-10 on the season. The Hoyas' two seniors,
Will Sharton (Wayland, Mass. / Wayland) and
Michael Chen (Holmdel, N.J. / Holmdel) were recognized in a prematch ceremony as it was the team's last regular season contest.
The Bears (10-7) played with a short bench and deferred at No. 3 doubles to give the Hoyas an early advantage. With just one win needed, Chen and
Charlie Sharton (Wayland, Mass. / Wayland) defeated Shrey Gupta and Sebastian Lopez 6-2 at No. 1 to clinch the doubles point.
In singles, Morgan State fielded five players, deferring at No. 6. With the 2-0 advantage in favor of the Hoyas,
Andrew Rozanov (London, England / Westminster) battled to win in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.
Rohan Kamdar (Singapore / Anglo Chinese School) then finished his match 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 to give the Blue & Gray its sixth win on the season.
The BIG EAST tournament starts on Thursday, April 18 in Cayce, South Carolina at the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center. Match times and results will be posted on GUHoyas.com.
