WASHINGTON – Freshman Cassie Henning (Atlanta, Ga. / Wesleyan) of the Georgetown University softball team notched her first BIG EAST Weekly Honors recognition of her collegiate career. She was named to the weekly honor roll, announced Monday by the league. The honor marks the team's fifth recognition by the conference this season.
 
Henning led the Hoyas (11-28, 4-6 BIG EAST) to a 2-0 series sweep against the Butler Bulldogs in Indianapolis over the weekend. The rookie had a pair of hits in Saturday's doubleheader, including a three-run double to put GU ahead of Butler in the top of the sixth inning to seal a 6-5 victory in the game one.
 
In game two against the Bulldogs, Henning threw a complete game in the circle, the first of her collegiate career. In seven innings, she allowed one run off of five hits and walked one.
 
The Blue & Gray will welcome Villanova on Thursday, April 18 and Friday, April 19 for a three-game BIG EAST series at Nats Youth Academy. The squads will play a doubleheader on Thursday beginning at 1 p.m. and a single game on Friday at noon. Live stats will be available at GUHoyas.com.
