WASHINGTON– The Georgetown University women's Varsity Eight boat was named Patriot League Boat of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon. The recognition is the first Boat of the Week honor for the 1V8 squad and its second league honor. This is the third Patriot League honor for the Blue & Gray this spring.
On Saturday, the Hoyas placed first in their heat, for a time of 6:38.17, beating North Carolina by 2.72 seconds. Later that afternoon, the squad competed again in heat two of the semifinal for the Grand Final and crossed the finish line in second, just three seconds off the pace of first place finisher, Temple.
On Sunday, the Hoyas finished fourth in the Grand Final for a time of 6:47.97, beating out North Carolina and Harvard-Radcliffe and trailing Stanford, Temple and Boston University.
Georgetown will return to the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, New Jersey for the Cherry Hill Invite on Saturday, April 20.
