WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University track & field teams will return to Princeton, New Jersey to compete in the Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday afternoon, hosted by Princeton. The men's 4x100-meter relay is the first race on the docket and is set to begin at 12:10 p.m. Races will be held at the Weaver Track Stadium.
Men's Preview
All-American
Lawrence Leake (Huntington, N.Y. / Huntington) and sophomore
Nate Alleyne (Downingtown, Pa. / Bishop Shanahan) highlight the 200-meter dash field. Leake last competed in the Sam Howell Invite two weeks ago and recorded a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash with Alleyne coming in third. Freshman
Ethan Delgado (El Paso, Texas / El Dorado) and senior
Brennan Munley (Clarkson, Mich. / Waterford Mott) will compete in the 800-meter run. Both runners are coming off top-12 finishes in the same event at the George Mason Spring Invite last weekend. The last event of the day for the men will be the 1,500-meter run and freshman
Maazin Ahmed (Schenectady, N.Y. / Schenectady) will be looking to build off of an eighth-place performance at George Mason.
Women's Preview
Sophomore's
Vickie Milledge (Simsbury, Conn. / Simsbury) and
BryAnn Sandy (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Paul Robeson-Pathways Tech) will compete in the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter dash, respectively. Milledge came in ninth place in the women's 100-meter hurdles while Sandy finished in fourth place with a time of 1:03.91 in the 400-meter hurdles one week ago. Freshman
Eni Akinniyi (Denton, Texas / John H. Guyer) will return to the triple jump area looking to beat her 11.72-meter distance that earned her third place at George Mason.
The women's 1,500-meter run will have a competitive field as the quartet of freshmen in
Sami Corman (Bellevue, Wash. / Issaquah),
Katie Dammer (Clarks Summit, Pa. / Abington Heights),
Katherine Modrall (Carmel, Ind. / Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory) and
Rachel Sessa (Tewksbury, Mass. / Tewksbury Memorial) join graduate student
Josette Norris (Tenafly, N.J. / Tenafly). Modrall, Sessa and Dammer finished third, fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at Sam Howell while Corman placed second in the 1,500-meter run at the Sun Angel Classic in Tempe, Arizona. Norris last raced at the Stanford Invite in March and posted the fourth-fastest 5,000-meter time in program history.
The Blue & Gray will be back in action on Thursday, April 25 as the squad travels to Philadelphia for the prestigious Penn Relays, hosted by Penn.
