WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University track & field teams split sites this weekend as one squad traveled to Azusa, California for the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific University while the other returned to Princeton, New Jersey to compete in the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton. Joe White (Clifton, N.J. / DePaul Catholic) competed in the Mt. SAC Relays in Torrance, California. A number of personal bests were set on the day as the Hoyas look to build momentum heading into postseason competition next month.
Men's Recap
White was the lone competitor for Georgetown at the Mt. SAC Relays and turned in an impressive 1:46.31 in his first 800-meter run this outdoor season. His time earned him a second-place finish. All-Americans
Spencer Brown (Wilton, Conn. / Wilton) and
Nick Wareham (Woodbury, Minn. / Woodbury) both set personal records in the 1,500-meter run at Bryan Clay. Brown ran a 3:39.94, eclipsing his best by nearly two seconds while Wareham finished in 3:44.54, just edging out his record in that event. In the 200-meter dash at Larry Ellis, sophomore
Nate Alleyne (Downingtown, Pa. / Bishop Shanahan) posted a top-five finish with a time of 21.71. Graduate student
Brennan Munley (Clarkson, Mich. / Waterford Mott) was able to crack to top 10 in the 800-meter run finishing in 1:52.28.
Women's Recap
On the women's side,
Josette Norris (Tenafly, N.J. / Tenafly) ran a personal best of her own in the 1,500-meter run at Larry Ellis completing the race with a mark of 4:13.77, a full 10 seconds ahead of her previous record. Freshman
Sami Corman (Bellevue, Wash. / Issaquah) also turned in a personal record of 4:26.18 in the same event. Freshman
Eni Akinniyi (Denton, Texas / John H. Guyer) recorded a triple jump of 11.85 meters to finish in second place while freshman
Cathilyn McIntosh (Loomis, Calif. / Del Oro) posted a top-10 finish with a time of 2:08.35 in the 800-meter run. In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, junior
Meg Mathison (Middleton, Wis. / Waunakee) finished in sixth place notching a time of 10:37.73.
The Blue & Gray will be back in action on Thursday, April 25-27 as the squad travels to Philadelphia for the prestigious Penn Relays, hosted by Penn.
