WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's lightweight rowing team traveled to Philadelphia on Saturday for a weekend tilt against Princeton and Penn. The Hoyas sent three varsity boats to compete in three different races on the Schuylkill River.
The first varsity boats were the first to take to the water and all three squads finished within two seconds of each other. Princeton crossed the line first while Georgetown was able to edge out Penn by .40 seconds finishing in 6:03.35. In the A boat,
Ryan Zuccala (Orchard Park, N.Y.) served as coxswain, with
Olivier Malle (New York, N.Y.) at stroke followed by
Joe Cecil (Alpharetta, Ga.),
Ryan Walter (Williamsville, N.Y.),
Liam Lafferty (Orinda, Calif.),
Artym Hayda (Providence, R.I.),
William Mangan (Buffalo, N.Y.),
Reid Noch (Naples, Fla.) and

In the second varsity race, the Hoyas fell behind early on and were unable to make a late surge, eventually falling to both Princeton and Penn. The third varsity squad had a similar result finishing in third with a time of 6:45.26.
The Hoyas are back in action on Saturday, April 27 as the lightweights travel back to Philadelphia for races against Temple. The heavyweights return to the water on Saturday, May 4 to compete against Penn and Cornell in Philadelphia.
