WASHINGTON – Georgetown University Track & Field All-American
Spencer Brown (Wilton, Conn. / Wilton) and graduate student
Josette Norris (Tenafly, N.J. / Tenafly) were named the BIG EAST Conference Men's and Women's Track Athletes of the Week, respectively, on Monday afternoon, as announced by the league. The honors come after Brown competed in the 1,500-meter run at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California on Friday while Norris ran in the same event at the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, New Jersey on Saturday.
Brown's personal record of 3:39.94 is the fastest 1,500-meter time in the BIG EAST this season, which ranks him 12th in the nation. His time is also the fastest 1,500-meter mark in the conference since 2015.
Norris clocked a personal-best time of 4:13.77, which is also the fastest in the BIG EAST this season in that event. The graduate student ran Division I's fifth-fastest time this year and is the best in the conference since the 2017 season.
This is the second overall BIG EAST weekly honor of Brown's collegiate career and his first outdoor nod to date. Norris collects her second conference honor and her first outdoor accolade of her career. Both honors mark the third and fourth weekly awards for the Blue & Gray so far this season.
The Blue & Gray will be back in action on Thursday, April 25-27 as the squad travels to Philadelphia for the prestigious Penn Relays, hosted by Penn.
