WASHINGTON– The Georgetown University women's varsity eight boat received the Patriot League Boat of the Week Honorable Mention, as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon. This is the second honorable mention for the squad and third recognition by the league this season.
Georgetown's 1V8 took to the water over the weekend to race in the Cherry Hill Invite on the Cooper River in New Jersey. The Hoyas finished first in their preliminary heat with a time of 6:57.77, beating Bucknell, Jacksonville, Old Dominion and Holy Cross. GU's first-place finish put them in lane four of the Grand Final where they crossed the finish line in third place, 9.98 seconds off the pace of first-place finisher, Rhode Island.
The Blue & Gray will return to the water on Friday, April 26 to compete in the Lake Wheeler Invite in Raleigh, North Carolina.
