WASHINGTON – Members of the Georgetown University track & field teams will split sites as one squad will travel to Princeton, New Jersey to compete in the Sam Howell Invitational, hosted by Princeton while the other will head to Tempe, Arizona for the Sun Angel Classic, hosted by Arizona State, on Saturday. The Sam Howell Invite kicks off at noon with the men's 4x100-meter relay. In the Sun Angel Classic, the Hoyas will first see action starting at 8:10 p.m. ET for the women's 800-meter run.
Sam Howell Preview
Sophomores
Nate Alleyne (Downingtown, Pa. / Bishop Shanahan) and
Kino Cheltenham (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Brooklyn Tech), as well as All-American
Lawrence Leake (Huntington, N.Y. / Huntington) highlight the sprinting categories as they face off in the men's 400-meter dash. Later in the afternoon,
Christian Liddell (Rogers, Ark. / Rogers),
Eion Nohilly (Golden's Bridge, N.Y. / John Jay) and
Price Owens (Yorktown, Va. / Grafton) will compete in the men's steeplechase. Earlier this season at the Penn Challenge, Liddell and Nohilly finished first and second, respectively, in the 2,000-meter steeplechase. Owens made his outdoor debut finishing in fourth place.
On the women's side, sprinters Vicki Milledge (Simsbury, Conn. / Simsbury),
Cassidy Palmer (Bloomfield, Conn. / Bloomfield) and
Tamiya Roberts (Powder Springs, Ga. / McEachern) will race in the women's 200-meter dash. Palmer and Roberts will be making their 2019 outdoor season debuts. The freshman trio of
Katie Dammer (Clarks Summit, Pa. / Abington Heights),
Katherine Modrall (Carmel, Ind. / Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory) and
Rachel Sessa (Tewksbury, Mass. / Tewksbury Memorial) will return to the women's steeplechase event and look to build off their Penn Challenge performances from two weeks ago where each runner placed in the top four with Dammer securing the win.
Sun Angel Preview
Georgetown will be sending a quartet of runners to compete in a pair of events. Sophomore
Olivia Arizin (Media, Pa. / Cardinal O'Hara) and freshmen
Katherine Lee (Wading River, N.Y. / Shoreham-Wading River) and
Cathilyn McIntosh (Loomis, Calif. / Del Oro) will face off in a field of 53 runners in the women's 800-meter run. Freshman standout
Sami Corman (Bellevue, Wash. / Issaquah) will race in the women's 1,500-meter run.
Georgetown will be back in action on Saturday, April 13 for the George Mason Spring Invitational, hosted by George Mason, in Fairfax, Virginia.
