WASHINGTON– The Georgetown University women's lightweight Varsity Eight boat competed in the Cal Cup as part of the San Diego Crew Classic over the weekend. The Blue and Gray won its heat on Saturday to advance to the Cup Final on Sunday where the Hoyas finished sixth.
In the first heat of the Women's Varsity UC San Diego Health Cup on Saturday, the Hoyas placed first in a field of five boats, among Sacramento State, Seattle Pacific, Saint Mary's and Fordham. GU crossed the finish line with a time of 6:47.895, just narrowly finishing ahead of Sacramento State which finished 1.474 seconds behind the Blue & Gray.
The first-place finish earned GU a lane in the Cup Final on Sunday against Sacramento Sate and Seattle Pacific from heat one along with San Diego, Drexel and Loyola Marymount from heat two where the Hoyas finished sixth with a time of 6:58.803, just over one second behind Seattle Pacific.
The Hoyas return to the water on Saturday, April 13 to compete in the Knecht Cup in Cherry Hill, N.J.
