WASHINGTON– The Georgetown University women's rowing teams competed in the 81st Dad Vail Regatta on Friday and Saturday on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. The regatta is the largest collegiate rowing event in the United States and the Hoyas raced in 15 events on the weekend with various results.
The openweight team sent three boats to compete over the weekend. On Saturday, the women's varsity four squad finished third in their final event behind Georgia and Bowdoin. The second varsity eight boat raced twice over the weekend and picked up a fifth-place finish in the Coleman D. Boyland final. After two first-place finishes earlier in the weekend, the varsity eight boat clinched third place in the Evelyn Bergman Final, clocking a time of 6:18.610, their fastest time of the weekend.

The lightweight eight boat raced four times over the weekend in one lightweight final and three openweight races. On Saturday, the Blue & Gray placed first in the lightweight eight final against MIT and captured the Dennis Kamrad Trophy while the squad took sixth place in the openweight final. The lightweight 2x boat raced twice and finished runner-ups in the collegiate 2x final behind Boston University. The lightweight fours took first on Saturday in a field of five and finished the weekend with a second-place finish in the Robert Espeseth Final, finishing with a time of 7:07.416.
