WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's
Erin Pettinger was selected to the athletic training staff for the 2020 U.S. Men's U19 Lacrosse team, as announced by US Lacrosse. She just completed her eighth season as an associate athletic trainer with the Hoyas, working with the men's lacrosse and men's and women's golf teams.
"I'm honored to be selected for this position and to be a part of Team USA," said Pettinger. "US Lacrosse has chosen a stellar group for the medical staff and I'm excited to work with them and the players who will be picked for the U19 team."
In addition to her work with the back-to-back BIG EAST men's lacrosse champions, Pettinger's administrative duties include drug testing, student athletic trainer placement and athletic training room scheduling. She was honored with the 2017 Leo H. McCormick Service Award at Georgetown's annual men's lacrosse award banquet.
"US lacrosse is getting a hard worker with tremendous attention to detail," Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Health and Wellness
Shawn Hendi said. "She will provide high quality, holistic medical care of each member of the team. Erin will do an incredible job for the young men and US Lacrosse is lucky to have her."
Coming to the Hilltop in the fall of 2011, Pettinger had previous stops as an assistant at Duquesne and South Carolina. She covered the volleyball, women's lacrosse and baseball teams with the Dukes and the volleyball and softball programs with the Gamecocks.
A 2002 graduate of the University of Nebraska, Pettinger received her master's at the University of Miami (Fla.). She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers' Association (MAATA), the District of Columbia Athletic Trainers' Association and the Virginia Athletic Trainers' Association.
