WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's rowing team closed out competition at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association's National Championship on Sunday as both the heavyweight and lightweight fours finished sixth overall in their respective Grand Finals and the lightweight eight crew won its Petite Final. Additionally, the lightweight four without coxswain finished fourth in its Petite Final at Lake Natoma in Sacramento County, California.
The heavyweight varsity four boat, consisting of coxswain
Maxim Goohs (Potomac, Md.) along with
Daniel Eigler-Harding (Arlington, Va.), Clemente Borgnoni (Rye, N.Y.),
Emmett Orts (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Ian Estavio (Arlington, Va.) finished sixth with a time of 6:36.008 in the Grand Final, as did the lightweight four crew of
Hannah Elwell (Worcester, Mass.) at coxswain along with
Hector Formoso-Murias (Key Biscayne, Fla.),
Charles Koontz (Ridgewood, N.J.),
Ryan Teetsel (Phoenix, Ariz.) and
Jonathan Menendez (Miami Lakes, Fla.) who crossed the finish line in 6:33.172.
Georgetown's lightweight eight boat won the Petite Final in 5:49.150, edging Harvard by .875 seconds. The crew consisted of
Ryan Zuccala (Orchard Park, N.Y.) at coxswain with
Olivier Malle (New York, N.Y.),
Joe Cecil (Alpharetta, Ga.),
Ryan Walter (Williamsville, N.Y.),
Liam Lafferty (Orinda, Calif.),

John Dailey (Rye, N.Y.).
Closing out the competition, the LW4- crew of
William Mangan (Buffalo, N.Y.),
Sean Haggerty (New York, N.Y.),
Tommy Ruggles (Weston, Mass.) and Peter DiGiovanni (Milton, Mass.) finished fourth in the Petite Final in 6:39.690.
