Megan Zarriello Named Swimming & Diving Assistant Coach

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University Swimming & Diving Head Coach Jack Leavitt has announced that Megan Zarriello has joined the program as an assistant coach. Zarriello joins the Hoyas after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Duquesne University.

"I couldn't be more excited to have Megan joining the program," Leavitt said. "Her passion for the sport and her ability to connect with student-athletes has allowed her to succeed as an athlete and a coach. Our swimmers and divers will benefit greatly from her knowledge and her energy on the pool deck."

In her two years at Duquesne, Zarriello helped lead the Dukes to two Atlantic 10 Conference championships, coaching multiple swimmers to individual conference wins, conference meet records, school records and pool records. In her first season at Duquesne, the Dukes recorded a program-best 567 points at the 2018 A10 championship meet to go along with 13 medal performances, including four gold medals.

In addition to her responsibilities on the pool deck, Zarriello assisted in all aspects of the recruiting process and oversaw the creation of the first Duquesne Swimming Turn & Stroke Tune-Up.

Before arriving at Duquesne, Zarriello spent two year at Wagner, where she coached swimmers that have competed at the Olympic, National and NCAA Championship level. She led the Seahawks to six school records, a conference record and a second-place finish at the 2016 Northeast Conference Championship.

Zarriello is a 2015 graduate of Fordham University where she was a top finisher for the Rams. She began her collegiate swimming career at the University of Maryland, where she concluded her freshman year as a top five performer in the 500 freestyle, 1,650 freestyle and 400 IM.

In addition to her undergraduate degree in psychology, Zarriello earned a master's in business administration at Wagner.

"I am incredibly excited to become a part of the Georgetown swimming & diving family," Zarriello said. "I want to thank Coach Leavitt and the athletic department for giving me this opportunity. I am looking forward to working with the University and staff to continue to develop student-athletes to be their best in the pool, in the classroom and beyond."
