Hoyas Lead the BIG EAST in Final Learfield Director’s Cup Standings

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University was ranked No. 70 in the country in the Learfield Directors' Cup Division I Final standings, which were released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) last week.  The Hoyas finished the year with 329.50 points. Georgetown is first among all BIG EAST Conference teams, and fifth among all non-FBS teams.

The Hoyas were aided to their No. 70 standing by earning 83 points from the women's soccer team which advanced to the 2018 College Cup.  The men's soccer team added 64 points after making it to the NCAA third round. Both squads won the BIG EAST Championship in back-to-back years and the women won the regular season title as well.

The men's cross country team also contributed 27 points sending individual qualifiers to the NCAA Championship. The team won its fourth-consecutive BIG EAST Championship earlier this season.

Men's indoor track & field added 47.5 points from an impressive showing at the NCAA Championships in the winter as the men's DMR finished third and Joe White (Clifton, N.J. / DePaul Catholic) captured sixth place in the 800-meter at the NCAA Championship.

Women's lacrosse pulled in 53 points advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after winning the BIG EAST Championship.  On the men's side, the squad tallied 25 points with a BIG EAST Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth.  Rounding out the point scorers was women's outdoor track & field as Josette Norris (Tenafly, N.J. / Tenafly / North Carolina) finished fourth at the NCAA Championship in the 5,000m.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort NACDA and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.  This is Georgetown's highest ranking since 2014-15.
