WASHINGTON – Georgetown University senior women's rower
Caroline O'Brien (Darien, Conn. / Darien) won a bronze medal for the United States in the lightweight women's quadruple sculls at the U23 World Championships in Florida in July. She previously won a gold medal at the 2018 U23 World Championships in the lightweight pairs.
"This whole summer, it's all led up to this so the bronze medal is just a little symbol of all the hard work we've done," O'Brien said. "This makes us want to work even harder and keep on going."
O'Brien teamed with Sarah McErlean, Olivia Farrar and Emma Starr to win the bronze in 6:45.31. The crew finished behind Italy (6:26.68) and Germany (6:33.38) while edging France (6:48.79) for a spot on the medal podium.
