No. 13 Georgetown Set to Host Bucknell on Sunday

WASHINGTON – The No. 13 Georgetown women's soccer team (1-1-1) will welcome the Bucknell Bison (1-2-0) on Sunday afternoon at Shaw Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Live stats and a live broadcast with Monika Moore calling the action will be available at GUHoyas.com.

Both squads will come together on Sunday to participate in Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer. Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer is a project of the Go4theGoal Foundation, a national pediatric cancer non-profit that makes a difference in the lives of children battling cancer. As part of the match, the Hoyas and the Bison will wear yellow shoelaces to show their support for Go4theGoal and children across the country who are battling cancer.

About the Hoyas

  • The Hoyas played the No. 10 Duke Blue Devils to a scoreless tie on Wednesday evening in Durham, North Carolina; both the Hoyas and the Blue Devils played pressuring defenses, allowing just five shots from each squad during regulation
  • Graduate student Amanda Carolan has scored a goal two of the last three games, earning a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll as well the No. 9 spot on the all-time leading scoring list at Georgetown with 25 career goals
  • Carolan leads the Blue & Gray with four points from a pair of goals and freshman Julia Leas follows with two points off of a goal
  • Freshman Anna Leat has played every minute for the Hoyas in the net, registering a 1.24 GAA along with eight saves
  • Georgetown started out the season ranked No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll
 

About the Opponent: Bucknell

  • The Bison fell to Wright State on Thursday night 2-1 in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania despite a late goal in the 80th minute to get in the scoring column; Chloe Christakos scored the goal for Bucknell
  • Against the Raiders, Bucknell took 15 corner kicks and 13 total shots
  • Christakos leads the Bison with three points on the season off of a goal and an assist; Gabby Bair and Petie Nessetta have also recorded goals this season
  • The Bison's lone win on the season came in their home opener against Robert Morris, a 2-1 victory
  • Sunday's match will be Bucknell's first road game this season

  • Sunday's match will be the sixth meeting between the Hoyas and the Bison
