O’Hearn Named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week

WASHINGTON –  Junior defender Sean O'Hearn was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon after the Hoyas went 2-0 last week.  This marks the first player of the week honor for the Hoyas this season and the first of O'Hearn's career.

O'Hearn played 172 minutes of back-to-back shutouts for the then-No.6 Hoyas, 3-0 over Temple and 1-0 at UC Irvine. The defender helped Georgetown limit its opponents to 15 shots including just eight on goal. He also assisted the game-winning goal in the 86th minute against the Anteaters, his first career point.

Georgetown is now 4-0 on the season after defeating UCLA 5-1 on Monday evening.  O'Hearn continued his scoring ways with a pair of assists in the victory.  On Tuesday, GU moved into No. 5 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll marking the first time the Hoyas have sat in the top five since 2016.

The Hoyas will return home on Saturday as the squad hosts future-BIG EAST rival UConn at 1 p.m. Live stats and a webcast ($) featuring Hoya alums Dan Helfrich and Tom Greaser will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.
