WASHINGTON – Seniors Paula Germino-Watnick and Meaghan Nally of the No. 12 Georgetown women's soccer team were selected as candidates for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate soccer. They were chosen among 60 student-athletes, 30 men and 30 women, who excel both on and off the field.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Georgetown is one of three BIG EAST schools to have a candidate in the pool (Xavier, Creighton) and is one of three schools on the women's side to have more than one nominee on the list (Texas State, South Florida).
 
Germino-Watnick and Nally were named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List earlier this season. Both Hoyas were also named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team and Nally was named the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. They have started in all nine games this season and Germino-Watnick leads the Blue & Gray with 14 points from four goals and six assists. Nally has four points on the season from a goal and a pair of helpers.
 
The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2019 NCAA Men's and Women's College Cup championships in December.
