WASHINGTON? – The Georgetown men's tennis team was down in Norfolk, Virginia for the opening weekend, facing off against Old Dominion (2-0) and Hampton (0-2). The weekend was highlighted by the Hoyas 7-0 sweep of the Hampton Pirates on Sunday. GU came up short against host ODU on Saturday afternoon.
"I'm proud of the enthusiasm and effort from the team this weekend," said Head Coach Courtney Dolehide "I view these two matches as a great stepping stone in our process toward peaking in April. We look forward to heading to West Point to take on Binghamton and Army in two weeks."
Kieran Foster, Ian Witmer, Mark Miltzer, Luke Ross and Andrew Rozanov all won their singles matches in straight sets. Rohan Kamdar won his singles match 6-2, 1-6, 6-3, allowing the Hoyas to clean up in singles play. Kamdar teamed up with Rozanov in doubles play for a 6-2 victory. The duo of Charlie Sharton and Luke Ross won their match 6-1, giving Georgetown the doubles point against the Pirates.
Georgetown will take next weekend off before traveling to West Point, New York to take on Binghamton on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a showdown at Army on Sunday, Feb. 2. GU saw the Golden Knight twice during the fall tournament season.
