WASHINGTON – Things may look a bit different on the Hilltop this fall due to the cancellation of fall sports because of COVID-19, but the Georgetown University women's soccer squad finds ways to continue its close-knit team culture virtually. The Hoyas welcomed six freshmen and two transfers to the team this season, and even though fans won't get a chance this fall to see them in action on Shaw Field, GUHoyas found a way to introduce them to the fans, brought to you by PNC Bank.
In our final edition of "Get to Know the Hoyas", we feature freshman
Jenna Trauffler. The defender hails from The Woodlands, Texas, and while we may not get to see her play this fall on Shaw Field, we got to know a few more things about her other than her athletic skills.
At what point did you realize you wanted to play college soccer?
Trauffler: I was in seventh grade when I realized playing soccer in college was an actual possibility.
What brought you to the Hilltop?
Trauffler: I chose Georgetown because of the opportunities that the McDonough School of Business (MSB) presents, the strong sense of community the university fosters and the amazing soccer program.
Who is your favorite athlete?
Trauffler: Deshaun Watson because he's my favorite player on the Texans. We've had the same injuries and he gives back to his community.
If I didn't play soccer, I would …
Trauffler: I would ski more.
When you're not on the soccer field, where can one find you?
Trauffler: Studying, hanging out with friends or watching The Bachelor/Bachelorette.
What's one fact about you that would surprise other people?
Trauffler: I've been known to have a hard time riding a bike.
What are you majoring in in college?
Trauffler: I'm planning on majoring in finance.
If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things couldn't you live without?
Trauffler: I would bring a soccer ball, sweet tea and one of my brothers' big, comfy sweatshirts.
What has been the hardest part so far with virtual learning as a freshman at Georgetown?
Trauffler: The hardest part has been hanging out with my parents while all of my Texas friends went away to school.
