WASHINGTON – Georgetown University was among the top 20 schools in the nation in the NCAA's Graduation Success Rate (GSR) report on Division I student-athletes, released by the organization on Tuesday. The statistics show that Georgetown graduated 97 percent which is above the national average of 90 percent and is the highest in history.
NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR)
- The GSR is based on student-athletes who entered college as freshmen between 2010-13 and allows for the removal of those individuals from who left Georgetown in good academic standing.
- Graduating 97 percent, the Hoyas tied for second in the BIG EAST Conference. Additionally, Georgetown tied for 19th in the nation.
- A total of 14 Hoya teams achieved a 100 percent GSR including baseball, football, men's golf, men's soccer, men's cross country/track & field, women's basketball, women's rowing, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, softball, women's swimming & diving, women's cross country/track & field, women's tennis and volleyball.
- The 97 percent GSR is Georgetown's second highest finish since reporting began in 1998.
NCAA Federal Graduation Rate (FGR)
- Georgetown freshmen scholarship athletes that enrolled in 2010-13 posted a four-year class average of 90 percent.
- This tied for ninth in the nation, and first in the BIG EAST being five points higher than the next institution.
- It also marked the highest percentage for the Blue & Gray in the past 13 years, tying last year.
- The FGR does not allow for the removal of those individuals who left GU in good academic standing, and only includes scholarship student-athletes.
