Dante Harris has been named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. Additionally, senior
Jamorko Pickett was selected to the league's weekly honor roll. The accolades recognize their efforts in Georgetown's three games last week in which the Hoyas went 2-1, including a 1-1 mark to start BIG EAST play.
DANTE HARRIS
- This is the first career weekly award for Harris, who made his first career start on Sunday night in GU's 97-94 overtime victory over St. John's at McDonough Arena.
- In three games last week, he averaged 12.0 ppg, 1.7 rpg and 2.0 apg while shooting 50 percent (12-24) from the floor and 40 percent (4-10) from 3-point range.
- Against the Red Storm, Harris poured in a career-best 22 points to lead the Hoyas on 6-of-14 shooting while playing 43 minutes.
- He hit 8-of-9 free throws, including three in the overtime period, while also contributing three rebounds, two assists and a team-high three steals.
JAMORKO PICKETT
- Pickett earns his first career weekly honor roll appearance after averaging a double-double in GU's three games last week with 14.0 ppg and 10.7 rpg to go along with five assists as well as a pair of blocks and steals.
- He shot 62.1 percent (18-29) from the floor and connected on 55.6 percent (5-9) from beyond the arc.
- In a win over Coppin State, Pickett recorded his first double-double of the season with 19 points, finishing 8-of-11 from the field, and a career-high 18 rebounds, which is the highest total in the BIG EAST this season.
- He finished with another double-double against No. 9/6 Villanova on Friday night, scoring 16 points and pulling down 10 rebounds while hitting 7-of-11 shots.
UP NEXT FOR THE HOYAS
The Hoyas will head out on the road for the first time this season, traveling to Queens, N.Y. for a matchup against St. John's on Sunday, December 20. Tipoff at the Red Storm's Carnesecca Arena is set for 6:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on FS1.
