Georgetown Inducts Seven into Athletics Hall of Fame

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics inducted seven Hoya luminaries into the Hall of Fame on Saturday evening. The celebration was held on campus at the Lohrfink Auditorium with a reception at Leavy Center to honor the outstanding achievements of these former student-athletes.

Ron Helmer
Track & Field / Cross Country
  • Coached for 21 years on the Hilltop
  • In his time his teams boasted four national championships, a third place finish at the 1998 NCAA Indoor Championships and multiple BIG EAST, ECAC and Penn Relays titles
  • Coached 342 All-Americans and his student-athletes won 219 BIG EAST individual titles
 
Kim Simons
Women's Lacrosse
  • Team appeared in seven consecutive NCAA Tournaments reaching the Final Four on three occasions and advancing to the national championship game twice
  • Coached 32 All-Americans and 20 Academic All-Americans
  • 2001 National Coach of the Year
  • Retired in 2004 as the most successful female coach in the history of Athletics at Georgetown
 
Chris York (B'97)
Men's Golf
  • A four-time first team all-district honoree
  • Finished in the top 10 at 15 tournaments and had three top-five finishes at the BIG EAST Championship
  • Won the 1997 Princeton Invitational
  • Team earned a berth in the 1997 NCAA Championship marking the first in program history
 
Eric Kvello (B'99)
Men's Soccer
  • All-American
  • BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year
  • Hoyas earned the first NCAA Tournament berth in program history in 1997 and advanced to the second round
  • Team had a combined 30 wins over his final two seasons
 
Autumn Fogg (C'00)
Cross Country / Track & Field
  • Five-time All-American
  • 1999 NCAA Champion in the Distance Medley Relay
  • Second place in the mile at the NCAA Championships
  • Team won an ECAC Cross Country title as well as a pair of top five finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championship
 
Sasha Spencer (B'01)
Track & Field
  • A nine-time All-American, six-time ECAC Champions, five-time BIG EAST Champion and two-time Penn Relays winner
  • A quarterfinalist in the 800m at the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials
  • Set the BIG EAST record in the 500m
  • A part of four Georgetown record setting relays
 
Sheehan Stanwick (B'01)
Women's Lacrosse
  • Georgetown's all-time points leader with 330
  • Holds the program records in career points, goals and points per game as well as season points, goals and assists
  • Four-time All-American
  • 2001 NCAA and BIG EAST Attacker of the Year
  • 2001 NCAA All-Tournament Team
  • Team appeared in the national championship game and set the program record for wins in a season
