WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will depart on Thursday for its 10-day, eight-game Spring Break trip to the Sunshine State. The Hoyas will play seven games against four different opponents as part of the Snowbird Baseball Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida, as well as playing at Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers, Florida. The Hoyas enter the trip with a 3-9 record over the season's first few weeks.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
- The Hoyas enter the trip having lost their last three games, including a tough 6-5 setback to Coppin State in the home opener at Shirley Povich Field on Tuesday.
- Jack Weeks was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Wednesday after allowing just one hit in 7.0 innings of work in a win at Maryland Eastern Shore last week.
- John Simourian leads the offense with a .294 (10-34) batting average. AJ Lotsis is hitting .292 (14-48) with a team-high three home runs. Freddy Achecar III leads the squad with 11 RBIs, while Ryan M. Davis is also in double figures with 10 RBIs.
- The pitching staff is led by Weeks, who has allowed just one earned run in 19.0 innings pitched for a 0.47 ERA. Angelo Tonas and Carter Bosch lead GU with 16 strikeouts apiece.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
- UIC is currently 0-11 on the season after being swept in series at Auburn, Vanderbilt and UC Santa Barbara. The Flames will play St. Bonaventure earlier on Friday before their matchup with the Hoyas. UIC has a .162 team batting average and a 9.43 ERA
- Iowa sits at 6-4 on the season and will play Western Michigan on Friday before taking on GU on Saturday. The Hawkeyes are batting .266 while the pitching staff has a 4.55 ERA and 97 strikeouts through 10 games.
- FGCU is 5-7 on the young season and hitting just .213 as a team. The pitching staff has a 3.68 ERA and a 104-50 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
- Army West Point is 3-7, including a season-opening win at Duke. The Black Knights are batting .249 while the pitching staff has a 5.76 ERA.
- Lafayette is 3-7 after dropping two of three at Davidson last weekend. The Leopards are hitting just .188 on the season and owns a 6.96 team ERA having allowed 12 home runs.
