WASHINGTON – Georgetown University Head Men's Soccer Coach 
Brian Wiese announced the 2020 team captains on Monday. Rising seniors 
Derek Dodson and 
Rio Hope-Gund, along with rising junior 
Sean Zawadzki were selected by the coaching staff and their teammates to lead the 2020 squad which will look to defend its 2019 NCAA National Championship.
 
"Our three captains really represent our team philosophy and goals," said Wiese.  "They were selected by their teammates and have already shown incredible leadership during these unprecedented times.  I believe that what they've shown over the past few weeks and what they will face in the coming months as a team will prepare them for the challenges that lie ahead."
 
Derek Dodson
Forward
Aurora, Ill. / Waubonsie Valley
	- A Third Team All-American selection.
- Named First Team All-East Region.
- A First Team All-BIG EAST honoree.
- Led the team in scoring with 11 goals and eight assists for 30 points as a junior.
- Had three game winners to his credit and was 2-for-3 on penalty kicks in 2019.
- Earned a spot on the 2019 BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.
- Has 30 career goals along with eight assists in three seasons on the Hilltop.

Rio Hope-Gund
Defender
New York, N.Y. / Friends Seminary
	- Started in 20 games as a junior for the Blue & Gray.
- Managed a pair of assists in 2019, both coming during the run to the national championship.
- Has tallied 24 career starts in 36 games played after moving into the lineup as a junior.
- Posted two career goals along with two assists for six points in his time on the Hilltop.
Sean Zawadzki
Midfielder
Olmsted Falls, Ohio / Olmsted Falls
	- Selected Third Team All-East Region as a sophomore.
- Named Second Team All-BIG EAST in 2019.
- The midfielder started all 22 games he appeared in with three goals, including two game winners, as well as one assist for seven points on the season.
- Has played in 43 career games with 35 starts boasting three goals and two assists in two seasons on the Hilltop.
The Hoyas had a historic run winning the national championship with a 3-3 victory over Virginia that was decided in penalty kicks, 7-6.  GU finished the year with a mark of 20-1-3 which set the program record for wins in a season.  Georgetown also boasted the program's first three-peat, winning the BIG EAST Championship for the third-consecutive year in a 3-1 victory over Providence College at Shaw Field.  It was just the second time in program history that the squad has won both the regular season and the championship in the same year.
 
Individually, the Hoyas had three All-Americans for the first time in program history as well as five players named All-East Region.  Additionally, 
Dylan Nealis and Achara were both selected in the MLS SuperDraft.  Nealis went third overall and was also GU's second MAC Hermann Trophy finalist in program history. In league play, the Blue & Gray won three of the major awards and had six All-BIG EAST selections.
 
Within the NCAA, Georgetown was impressive ranking among the top 10 in shutouts (13, 2nd), goals-against average (0.559, 3rd), assists (50, 3rd), save percentage (0.831, 4th), goals (58, 4th) and points (166, 4th).
