Hoyas Unlimited Confirms Nine New Board Members

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's Athletics' volunteer board, Hoyas Unlimited, unanimously voted on its July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2022 officer positions, the three July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2023 second-term at-large board members and six first-term at-large board members in a virtual meeting on April 30.
 
Women's basketball alumna Christina Besozzi Cary (C'05) will complete a successful two-year term as the president of Hoyas Unlimited at the end of June. Besozzi has served on Hoyas Unlimited for nine years and moved through the officer positions elected by her peers on the board.
 
"It has been a true honor and privilege to serve as president of Hoyas Unlimited and to be able to maintain such a strong connection to both the current student-athletes at Georgetown and the alumni community at large," Cary reflected.  "I have been blessed to with work with a myriad of dedicated Hoya volunteers, SAAC leaders, and amazing Athletics/Advancement staff over the course of my two years as president as we all focused on a common goal - improving the Georgetown Athletics experience and advancing each team's performance on and off the field. I look forward to continuing my involvement with HU and I want to extend a huge congratulations to T.C., my successor, and the newly elected HU board members. Hoya Saxa!"
 
Following Cary's departure swimming & diving alumnus, T.C. Roberge (C'96, L'99) will begin his two-year term as the president of Hoyas Unlimited. Roberge has been involved with the organization for 20 years beginning first with the swimming & diving community, H2OYAs and eventually moved up the ranks through the Hoyas Unlimited board.
 
"I am honored to have the opportunity to lead Hoyas Unlimited during this unique and challenging time in our history," Roberge said. "Our mission to support Georgetown student-athletes and enhance their experience on the Hilltop has never been more important than it is today.  I would like to congratulate and welcome the new members of our Hoyas Unlimited board, I look forward to working with Hoyas Unlimited, the Athletic Department and the entire Georgetown Athletics community over the next two years."
 
Field hockey alumna Lauren Jarrell Sheets (C'08, L'11) and men's soccer alumnus Kevin Shaw (C'00) will join Roberge in the officer positions of Hoyas Unlimited serving as president-elect and secretary, respectively. The slate of officers will lead the volunteer group for Georgetown Athletics for the next two years.
 
Hoyas Unlimited welcomed back the following second-term at-large board members for another three-year term: Emily Hall (C'15), swimming & diving, Caroline Hiner (F'16), field hockey and Shawn McLaughlin (B'82), men's basketball.
 
The following alumni and parents will begin their first three-year term as at-large board members on July 1, 2020: Scott Brener (C'87), men's basketball/athletics supporter, Lisa Burke Fallon (C'93), women's lacrosse/field hockey, Susan Farrell (P'19), women's soccer, Richard Le Petri (C'82, P'16), track & field, Kenneth Mitchell (C'09, S'12), track & field / football, Karen Schneider (N'76), men's basketball, Meghan Shaver (B'19), women's soccer, John Snyder (B'13, MBA'20), men's soccer, Christine Todd (C'88, P'17), tennis.
 
Georgetown Athletics thanks the following alumni who will be completing their term with the Hoyas Unlimited board on June 30, 2020 for their dedicated service during their three-year term: Joe Meyer (C'92), Paul Besozzi (F'69, L'72) , Michael Karam (F'72, L'76, L'81), Regina Tornsey-Durkin (C'73, M'77), Denise Furey (F'78), Bill Licamele (C'68, M'72, R'74, W'76), Kerri MacColl (C'03), Joy Monahan (C'91, MPP '94), Kristen Nicolini (C'02).
 
Hoyas Unlimited's purpose is to assist Georgetown Athletics in its mission to develop the talents, character and leadership qualities of all student-athletes and members of its community by serving as an external resource that generates support for the department from student-athlete alumni, parents, fans and friends of the Georgetown Athletics community.
