WASHINGTON – Georgetown men's basketball's
Malcolm Wilson was selected to the
NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (National SAAC) as a BIG EAST representative. As part of his role as a men's basketball student-athlete on National SAAC, he has been appointed to the
Men's Basketball Oversight Committee as a student-athlete representative. The sophomore center will serve in both roles immediately and his term on both the National SAAC and the oversight committee goes through May 2022 at which point he will be eligible for reappointment.

"I take this opportunity very seriously and will commit myself to being the best representative as possible for my teammates, the BIG EAST Conference and all NCAA student-athletes."
NCAA DIVISION I STUDENT-ATHLETE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SAAC) & MEN'S BASKETBALL OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE
- The Division I National SAAC is committed to being proactive in our service and representation of all 160,000 Division I student-athletes.
- The Men's Basketball Oversight Committee will ensure that appropriate oversight of men's basketball is maintained, will enhance the development and public perception of the sport and make recommendations related to regular-season and postseason men's basketball.
- The committee will prioritize enhancement of the student-athlete educational experience (academically and athletically), and in doing so, promote student-athletes' personal growth and leadership development.
- The Men's Basketball Oversight Committee will supervise qualifications and/or selection procedures for the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship.
- The committee will review recommendations from the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee and process other issues related to the administration of the championship.
- The committee will assume many of the duties of the former NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Issues Committee and will provide direction to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Rules Committee regarding playing rules.
ABOUT MALCOLM WILSON
- Wilson was recently appointed to the six-person SAAC Board on the HIlltop for the 2020-21 season. As the NCAA representative, he joins President Mary Pagano (women's lacrosse), Vice Presidents Jessica Cusi (volleyball) and Sean Devlin (men's swimming & diving), and BIG EAST Representatives Sari Cureton (women's basketball) and Tristan Forsythe (men's track & field).
- Wilson sat out his freshman season on the Hilltop, but prior to Georgetown, the Columbia, South Carolina native led the Ridge View Blazers to back-to-back Class 4A championships. He was an all-state selection as a senior, averaging 6.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.2 blocks per game and averaged 9.9 ppg and 6.4 bpg as a junior. In the two championship seasons, Ridge View posted a combined 46-14 record including a 25-7 mark in 2018-19.
