WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced a new initiative designed to highlight the exceptional work teams and student-athletes are doing. The Hoyas Care program is designed to show the Department's commitment to being an active member of the Washington, D.C. community. Georgetown student-athletes, coaches and staff support a number of community outreach programs that make a positive impact on the lives of University neighbors. The Hoyas Care program will highlight this work in collaboration with community partners and provide information on how fans, donors and alumni can also get involved.
The program will focus on three pillars: community engagement, education and health & wellness. It will highlight the work teams are doing in these areas and gives opportunity to support these causes in a larger way. This support comes in many forms including community donations, GU's military pass, community partners and specific team initiatives. Additionally, it will spotlight Georgetown's diversity, equity & inclusion work within the social justice space.
Fans can visit GUHoyas.com/HoyasCare for more information on the program or to learn of ways to get involved. Teams will be using the #HoyasCare hashtag to promote the initiative to a larger audience in the hopes of motivating fans and alumni to make a difference in their local communities.
