WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's and women's swimming & diving programs were both named College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America teams, as announced by the association earlier this week. Both programs ranked among the top 15 nationally, respectively.
To be eligible for Scholar All-America recognition, a team must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), as defined by the institution, for the fall semester. The team GPA includes all eligible varsity student-athletes. A total of 450 institutions across all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA divisions were recognized.
Georgetown's men's team recorded a 3.75 team GPA during the fall semester to rank among the top five nationally. The Hoyas tied for fourth overall of 119 Division I men's programs that achieved at least a 3.0 GPA. The GU women also turned in a 3.75 fall GPA, tying for 14th overall among 183 Division I women's programs.
Both GU squads had the highest mark in the BIG EAST Conference.
The CSCAA will announce its individual Scholar All-Americans following the spring semester.
