Augur and Cummings Earn Player of the Week Nods

WASHINGTON – Monday afternoon, the Georgetown women's soccer team had two players earn BIG EAST Player of the Week awards. Junior Allie Augur was named Goalkeeper of the Week as graduate student Sydney Cummings was named Defensive Player of the week. On Tuesday, Cummings earned two more nods as TopDrawerSoccer named her Player of the Week and selected her for Team of the Week. This is Augur's fourth award of the fall season and the three awards for Cummings mark her firsts.

Sydney Cummings

  • Cummings has two goals on the season so far with the first against NC State in the season opener (2-2) and the second this past Thursday against Butler (1-0).
  • The Millstone Township, New Jersey native secured Georgetown's victory over Butler in the 88th minute as she headed the ball into the net from a corner played in by senior Maya Fernandez-Powell
  • The defender locked down St. John's forward Zsani Kajan on Sunday as she held Kajan to zero goals on the day. Kajan is tied for sixth place with 11 goals in Division I women's soccer for the 2021 season.
  • Cummings is in her first year with Georgetown after transferring from Brown University. She has started and played every game with the Hoyas.

Allie Augur

  • Augur made three diving saves on Sunday against St. John's to earn the shutout. Late in the second half she made an outstretched save to push the Red Storm's shot up and over the crossbar to keep the score 1-0 in Georgetown's favor.
  • Augur has 43 saves over 14 games in the fall season so far.
  • The Northford, Connecticut keeper faced a season high of shots at Texas when they beat the Longhorns 2-0 and season high of saves against Rutgers when she made eight saves to secure the victory over then-No. 9 Scarlet Knights.
  • Augur has started and played every game with the Hoyas this season.
  • This award marks the goalkeeper's fourth award of the 2021 season.
