ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown will play its first contest inside Capital One Arena in 616 days with its last coming on March 7, 2020, against No. 14/12 Villanova.
  • Head Coach Patrick Ewing named graduate student Donald Carey as his team captain for the 2021-22 season on Oct. 19, 2021. The 6-foot-5 guard became the first player in Ewing's coaching tenure and the first since former play-caller John Thompson III named Ryan Doughtery, Austin Freeman and Chris Wright as tri-captains in the 2010-11 campaign. Carey also became the first individual captain since guard Joseph Touomou earned the honor prior to the 1998-99 slate.
  • In addition to Carey's return, the 2021 Most Outstanding Player in the BIG EAST Tournament Dante Harris will enter his sophomore season in Blue & Gray. The guard averaged 11.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game in his four starts en route to conference glory.
  • BIG EAST Preseason Freshman of the Year Aminu Mohammed will make his long-awaited debut for the Hoyas on Saturday, bringing a pair of Missouri Gatorade Athlete of the Year awards and over 3,200 career points from high school to the defending conference champions.
  • Alongside Mohammed, Ewing's club will feature five more newcomers for the 2021-21 season in graduate student Kaiden Rice who spent the last four years at the Citadel as well as freshmen Jordan Riley, Jalin Billingsley, Tyler Beard and Ryan Mutombo, son of former Hoya standout and Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo.
  • Georgetown is 4-0 in season openers under Ewing and holds an 18-3 record in the first game of the year since the 2000-01 campaign.

ABOUT THE BIG GREEN
  • Dartmouth's quest for its first winning season since 1998-99 began on a sour note after dropping its season opener to Boston College, 73-57, on Nov. 9. Graduate student Brendan Barry and senior Taurus Samuels put up 10 points apiece against the Golden Eagles while combining for 6-of-21 from the floor.
  • Despite losing top 2019-20 point-getter Chris Knight to Loyola-Chicago, the Big Green are slated to lean on Barry, Samuels and fifth-year Aaryn Rai to front the offensive load.
  • David McLaughlin's team sits just three wins away from 1,300 in program history.

ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • Saturday's matchup will be just the third showdown between these two programs with both recording a win in the series.
  • Georgetown downed Dartmouth, 101-69, in its first-ever meeting during the 1966-67 season before falling in the 1974-75 slate, 57-56.
  • The Hoyas boast a 27-26 all-time record against Ivy League schools.
