WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's and women's swimming & diving teams hit the road once again to take on Fordham in the Bronx, New York on Saturday afternoon. The Hoya men's squad will attempt to build on their undefeated start of the season while the women's team looks to return to their winning ways.
"We've competed a lot in the past month and it's been good to see some steady progress," Head Coach
Jack Leavitt said. "We're excited for another tough test on the road."
About the Hoyas
- Georgetown hosted its lone home meet of the fall slate last weekend as the men's team dominated Villanova 182-112 while the women were edged by the Wildcats 154-137.
- On the men's side, the Hoyas won 11 events, placed second in 13 and added four third-place finishes on the day.
- Drew Carbone won three events, finishing first in the 100 and 200 backstroke as well as swimming the first leg of the 200 medley relay. He posted top-times in the BIG EAST for all three events and was named the BIG EAST Male Athlete of the Week for his efforts.
- Sean Devlin also won a trio of races, posting season-bests in the 50 and 100 freestyle while anchoring the 200 medley relay winning squad. Joseph Hoffman won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events as well.
- The women's team won six events against Villanova, posted eight second-place finishes and came in third 10 times.
- Erin Hood won three events on the day, touching the wall first in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and the 200 IM. Her 200 IM time was a season-best as well.
- Genevieve Youngman added a victory in the 100 butterfly and Emilie Ginovker won the 3-meter dive.
Fordham at a Glance
- Fordham is 3-0 on the men's side and 2-1 overall with the women's team.
- The Rams swam all three meets at home so far this season.
- Ainhoa Martin was named the reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week following a Fordham sweep against Monmouth its last time out.
On Deck
Following the weekend's action, the Hoyas remain on the road to compete at Terrier Invite, hosted by Boston University, on November 19-21.
