WASHINGTON – Playing in its first tournament in more than 17 months, the Georgetown University men's golf team turned in a 14th-place finish at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate, played at the par-70, 6,799-yard Golden Horseshoe Gold Course in Williamsburg, Virginia. The Hoyas were led by a top-20 finish from sophomore
David Rogers.
HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Rogers finished with a three-round score of 8-over par 218 to tie for 16th overall. He carded a 1-over par 71 in Monday's second round.
- Seniors Matt Barnes and Tim Rotermund turned in scores of 17- and 21-over par to finish tied for 49th and 64th, respectively.
- Rotermund recorded a hole-in-one on the par-3, 201-yard third hole during Monday's first round.
- Junior Will O'Neill carded a 25-over par 235 to place 70th.
WHERE THE TEAM FINISHED
- The Hoyas finished 14th out of the 16-team field with a 54-hole score of 71-over par 911. They were just 14 strokes out of the top 10.
- VCU won the tournament with a 19-over par 859. Old Dominion (863), host William & Mary (871), George Washington (871) and Richmond (871) rounded out the top five.
