DIRECTOR OF TRACK & FIELD/CROSS COUNTRY ALTON MCKENZIE ON BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP

"I'm very proud of the effort of both teams showcased today and we're grateful we've had the opportunity to compete at a high level, and to finish strongly. The effort we put was exceptional, as was the performance. Now we get to see if our teams can make it into the NCAA Championship. I'm very pleased with the effort and proud of the coaching staff––Coach Mitchell Baker and Brandon Bonsey."

TRACK & FIELD/CROSS COUNTRY ASSISTANT COACH MITCHELL BAKER ON BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP

"We are very proud to bring back the championship for the first time since 2014. It's overwhelming to think of all of the staff that put effort into something like this happening in normal times let along right now - university officials, senior sport administrators, sports medicine, academic support, equipment, facilities, sports nutrition, strength and conditioning, sports psych, compliance; we thank them all.

Our staff knows we would not have the student-athletes with the ability and drive to achieve at this level without our alumni that have blazed the path for us and continue their amazing support for us now, admissions that has helped us attract competitive applicants, and student financial aid that has met the cost of attendance of the families that send us their children. We thank all of these contributors; this is their championship, too.

The women learned a lot about themselves in our season opener two weeks ago that aided our improvements today. We knew we had to find a way to race a better second half, and when we were on the ropes against several schools with a kilometer left to race, we held the line or clawed forward just enough spots to make the difference. Winning is always important, but our expectations are first that we learn and apply as much as possible from every past experience, so seeing their response at the end of the race - a substantial uptick from two weeks ago - was exactly what it means to be a part of the program. I am extremely proud of how much discipline and resolve they displayed in training on their own for nearly 11 months, and today's performance was a great metaphor for who this team has become through all of that: tough, competitive, and full of Georgetown spirit."

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY COACH BRANDON BONSEY ON BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP

"I'm incredibly proud of how our men raced in their first race of the season. The preparation was far from perfect but they went out and ran incredibly tough team races. Butler and Villanova are two of the best men's teams in the country, so for us to do what we did with a very young group was super exciting. I believe we showed the NCAA Selection Committee that we are very deserving of a bid to the NCAA Championships on March 15th."
