Baseball Set for Four-Game Series with St. John’s

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team returns to BIG EAST play this weekend, hosting St. John's University in a four-game, three-day series. Friday's weekend opener is scheduled for 6 p.m., and the two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, consisting of a seven-inning game followed by a nine-inning contest, beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday's series finale is also set for 1 p.m.
 
GAMEDAY INFORMATION
  • The games will be played in Frederick, Maryland at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown comes into the game with an 0-4 record after a tough setback to Towson on Tuesday night.
  • The Hoyas outhit the Tigers 8-7, led by two hits from freshman Michael Eze.
  • Eze was on base three times and also stole a base, while picking up two outfield assists from right field.
  • Everett Catlett made his first career start on the mound and fired 2.0 innings, allowing just one unearned run while striking out three.
  • The GU pitching staff picked up 12 strikeouts, led by Nolan McCarthy who had four strikeouts in 3.1 innings of relief.
  • For the season, the Hoyas are led by Andrew Ciufo who is batting .500 (3-6) with a home run and a team-high three RBIs.
  • AJ Lotsis, Eddie McCabe and Conor Nolan each have four hits.
  • On the mound, Carter Bosch, Jacob Grzebinski and Michael Willis have all made two appearances without allowing a run. McCarthy has a team-leading six strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work.

  • St. John's enters the weekend with a 10-7 overall record and a 1-2 mark in BIG EAST play, dropping a series to Xavier last weekend after coming off a 19-day pause due to COVID protocols.

  • David Glancy and Justin Folz lead St. John's with two home runs apiece, while David Williams has a team-high 13 RBIs.
