WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's golf team will close out the 2021 campaign at the BIG EAST Championship, Presented by JEEP this week at the Streamsong Resort in Bowling Green, Florida.
"The BIG EAST Championship culminates our season and is an event we prepare for all year," Head Coach
Tommy Hunter said. "Although this year has been very challenging, we need to focus on the task at hand which is to compete as hard as we can over 54 holes. This year we will play The Blue Course at The Streamsong Resort in Florida, a golf course we have never seen or competed on. The practice round will be very important in terms of establishing our strategy during competition. The guys are focused and understand the challenge ahead."
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
- Played on April 26-28 at The Blue Course at Streamsong Resort – a 7,241-yard, par 72 course.
- The 54-hole event will have one round each day.
- Other BIG EAST teams include Butler, UConn, DePaul, Creighton, Marquette, St. John's, Seton Hall, Villanova and Xavier.
- The winner of the event earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
- Live scoring will be available at www.GolfStat.com.
ABOUT THE HOYAS
- Georgetown's lineup will consist of Matt Barnes, David Rogers, Will O'Neill, Tim Rotermund and Chris Doody.
- Rogers leads the Hoyas with a 73.43 stroke average followed by Barnes (74.29), Rotermund (77.14) and O'Neill (77.43).
- Doody carded a 76 in his lone round of competition in Georgetown's abbreviated season.
OF NOTE
- Georgetown has won the BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship four times in program history.
- The Hoyas hoisted the championship trophy in 1998, 2010, 2016 and 2018.
