Swimming & Diving Sweep Seton Hall on Senior Day

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University's men's and women's swimming & diving teams swept conference foe Seton Hall with a combined score of 354-246 at McCarthy Pool on Saturday.
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • The women's side knocked off Seton Hall for the third-straight meet with its 159-141 victory.
  • The Hoyas kicked off the day with a pair of 200-yard medley teams going 1-2 in the event. Grace Chen, Erin Hood, Genevieve Youngman and Bella Wylie earned the top spot while Kylie Stronko, Emily Giesler, Gabriella Meringolo and Tia Thomas edged out Seton Hall by 0.09 seconds for second.
  • Corey Moon captured the 1,000-yard free with a time of 10:25.35, over six seconds better than the next competitor.
  • Erin Hood picked up first-place finishes in the 200-yard free, 200-yard breast and broke the 400-yard IM pool record.
  • Chen, Stronko and Maddie Haley swept the podium in the 100-yard back.
  • Stronko and Haley followed up with a 1-2 punch in the 200-yard back, finishing 0.19 seconds apart.
  • Youngman and Meringolo posted a 1-3 finish in the 100-yard fly, respectively, after Ryan Evangelista earned a second-place mark in the 500-yard free.
  • Emilie Ginovker and Wynter Bramao went 1-2 in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.
  • Following a 2-3 finish from Samantha Hagberg and Meringolo in the 200-yard fly, respectively, Wylie (50-yard free) and the team of Chen, Claire Trevithick, Stronko and Evangelista (400-yard free relay) picked up third-place marks.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • The men's side picked up its second-straight victory against Seton Hall with a 195-105 win.
  • Kyle Maziarz shattered the Hoya regular-season record on the 3m dive with a score of 348.75. Charlie Reichle and Joseph Hofman helped sweep the 3m competition, respectively, while Marziarz and Hofman went 1-2 in the 1m dive.
  • Much like the women's side, the men had two teams reach the podium in the 200 medley. Drew Carbone, Ansen Meyer, Michael Baldini and Sean Devlin captured the top spot while the squad of John McEachern, Carlson Temple, Nathan Lamers and Jack Muratori finished in third.
  • The tandem of Michael Wheeler and Matthew Braviak also went 1-3 in the 1,000 free before Brett Sherman earned a second-place mark in the 200 free.
  • Carbone edged out Seton Hall for the top spot in the 100 back and 200 back while Liam Ryan and John McEachern finished with the third-best time in those events, respectively.
  • Jordan Gross and Lamers went 1-2 in the 200 fly while Temple and Meyer earned a 2-3 finish in the 100 breast.
  • Devlin and Baldini added a 2-3 finish in the 50 free while Muratori and Devlin also went 2-3 in the 100 free.
  • Stephen Kim, Temple and Jack Brearton swept the 200 back, all finishing within three seconds of each other.
  • Jack Januario and Wheeler finished first and second, respectively, in the 500 free.
  • Brearton and Sherman went 1-2 in the 400 IM after Baldini and Lamers went 1-3 in the 100 fly.
  • The Hoyas ended the day with a 1-3 finish in the 400 free relay, with the team of Muratori, Baldini, Devlin and Carbone earning the top spot. Sean Percin, Connor Brennan, Hayes Goetcheus and Josiah Lauver rounded out the podium in third.
 
ON DECK
The Hoyas look to capture its first conference title when they head to East Meadow, New York for the BIG EAST Championships on Feb. 23-26 at the Nassau Aquatic Center.
