Hoyas and Howard Make History at “Battle at the Burr”

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's and Howard University's swimming & diving teams made collegiate swimming history with one of the largest attended events with 2,000 tickets sold and over 1,200 spectators at the inaugural "Battle at the Burr" dual meet on Saturday.

"Today's 'Battle at the Burr' was really something special. Both teams and their fans brought amazing energy and there really isn't a meet in collegiate swimming that lives up to the atmosphere Georgetown and Howard were able to compete in this afternoon. From the competition standpoint, both squads gave it everything they had in them to reciprocate the energy we all were feeling on the pool deck. We couldn't have asked for a better meet for the swimming community and we are incredibly grateful to be a part of a historic day in the District." - Head Coach Jack Leavitt on today's "Battle at the Burr"
