WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's cross country team captured their third consecutive BIG EAST Championship title today behind
Maggie Donahue's second place finish. The men's team came in third place behind Villanova and Providence.
ON THE RECORD
"What an amazing performance from our Women to pull off the win. We showed tremendous depth putting five women in the top 10…a testament to how well we compete as a group. Kudos to Coach Baker & Levermore for having the women ready to compete. The three-peat was sweet!!" – Director of Cross Country/Track & Field
Alton McKenzie
"This is a resilient group. They are certainly talented and hard-working, but what sets them apart is their embracing of adversity and instead using it as fuel for their success. It was a nailbiter with Providence - they're talented, well coached, and their fans were out in force. The Friars ran very tough but it was the racing of Katy-Ann McDonald and
Chloe Gonzalez that was the breakthrough that we needed.
Donahue led us again with a great runner-up finish - she didn't get it today but she's a true champion and should be proud of her performance. There's more for her this season, for sure, but today's result was awesome. Jensen ran lights out - she's becoming a very dangerous runner on the grass and we're excited to see what she does as the meets progress. Corman was hoping for more individually but held the line - really tough racing after a choppy stretch for her the last few weeks. Riggins as a career opener and only second ever cross country race in her life was awesome. Scrimgeour doesn't want to admit it, but today was a fantastic return to racing; she's going to keep getting better as the postseason continues. Nuttall as an All-BIG EAST performer is an awesome race for her and running alongside teammate Hennelly. You can't script having your best day every time out, but you give all that you have for your teammates and that makes this team great. I'm very proud of this group and thankful for the efforts of the coaches, sports med, support staff, parents and alumni that make these days possible." – Cross Country/Track & Field Assistant Coach
Mitchell Baker

Parker Stokes to be fourth best overall working his way up throughout the race. We'll look to make amends as a team at the regional meet in two weeks." – Director of Cross Country/Track & Field
