Hoyas Tab 11 BIG EAST Postseason Awards

WASHINGTON – The No. 18/12 Georgetown women's soccer team tabbed two individual Player of the Year awards, eight All-BIG EAST Team awards and the Coaching Staff of Year as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
 
Senior Julia Leas was unanimously selected as the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year. Fellow senior Allie Augur was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year. Leas, a unanimous selection, and Augur were named to the All-BIG EAST First Team along with sophomore defender Eliza Turner and senior forward Gia Vicari. Graduate student and midfielder Maya Fernandez-Powell was selected to the All-BIG EAST Second Team along with freshman defender Natalie Means. Means was also selected to the All-BIG EAST Freshman Team with forward Henley Tippins. Head Coach Dave Nolan and assistant coaches Rick Stainton and Naomi Meiburger were named as the BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year. 
 
The Hoyas are currently 12-1-5 overall, 8-0-2 in the BIG EAST as they head into the semifinal of the BIG EAST Tournament on Thursday, November 3, facing Creighton at 6:30 p.m. in Boyds, Maryland. Georgetown held a 12-game shutout streak this season as Augur and Cara Martin held off being scored on for a collective 1,080 minutes. The Blue & Gray have scored 30 goals over 18 games while only allowing eight. Georgetown has 256 collective shots with 118 against.

What Lies Ahead
Georgetown plays Creighton on November 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Maryland Sportsplex in the Semifinal of the BIG EAST Tournament.
