Hoyas Travel to Tulsa for NCAA Second Round

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's soccer squad will battle the 15th-seeded University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane in the NCAA Championship Second Round on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. ET at Hurricane Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown downed the United State Naval Academy Midshipmen 2-0 on Thursday afternoon in the first round of the NCAA Championship at Shaw Field. A pair of goals from freshman Jacob Murrell sealed the first-round victory.
  • Georgetown won its eighth BIG EAST Regular Season Championship in program history earlier this season.
  • Senior captain Aidan Rocha earned BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year honors marking the fourth-consecutive season a Hoya has won it, while senior captain Daniel Wu captured Defensive Player of the Year as GU managed its fifth-consecutive defensive honor. Rocha and Wu were also named First Team All-BIG EAST.
  • Juniors Ryan Schewe and Marlon Tabora earned spots on the second team, while GU boasted a league-high three people on the third team including junior captain Kenny Nielsen, sophomore Kieran Sargeant and freshman Jack Panayotou.
  • Additionally, the Georgetown staff received BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year honors for the second-consecutive season.
  • Murrell leads the team in scoring with 18 points on seven goals and four assists. Tabora and freshman Panayotou are second with 17 points apiece. Panayotou has tallied seven goals with three assists, while Tabora has five goals and seven assists.
About the Golden Hurricane
  • Tulsa has a 9-4-2 mark on the season, including three victories over top-15 opponents.
  • Alex Meinhard has a team-best nine goals, five assists and 23 points on the season, while Malik Henry-Scott adds six goals.
  • Alex Lopez has logged 1,100 minutes in goal, picked up 38 saves and allowed 14 goals for a 1.15 GAA.
  • This is Tulsa's 13th appearance in the tournament.  TU has a 10-11-2 mark in the NCAA tournament, making quarterfinal appearances in 2004 and 2009.
