Georgetown Set to Play in BIG EAST Championship

WASHINGTON – The No. 1 seeded Georgetown women's soccer team plays No. 2 Xavier on Sunday, November 6 in the BIG EAST Championship. The game is set for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Maryland.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown beat No. 5 Creighton 1-0 on Thursday night in the semifinal of the championship.
  • Allie Augur made multiple saves to earn the shutout for the Hoyas. 
  • Gia Vicari added to her goal count (6) with a left footed shot to the bottom left of the net to give the Blue & Gray the game-winner in the 19th minute. 
  • The Hoyas had seven players named to the All-BIG EAST First, Second and Freshman Teams.
  • Julia Leas was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and Augur was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year.
  • The game tomorrow marks the seventh-consecutive year that Georgetown has made it to the BIG EAST Championship.
 
About the Musketeers
  • Molly McLaughlin has 16 points from six goals and four assists in her 20 starts for the Musketeers this season.
  • Maria Galley has played every minute for Xavier in the net this season and has earned 11 shutouts.
  • McLaughlin was named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year.
  • Galley and fellow freshman Natalie Bain were both named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team and to the BIG EAST All-Freshman team.
  • Regan Dancer was also named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team with Galley and Bain.

  • Georgetown and Xavier last faced each other on October 6 with a 0-0 tie as the result.
