Georgetown Travels to Storrs to Face No. 2 UConn

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team heads to Storrs, Connecticut on Tuesday evening for a matchup with the No. 2-ranked UConn Huskies. The Hoyas (5-7) are coming off a 102-89 loss against conference foe Xavier while the Huskies are coming off a 68-46 win against Butler. Tipoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Hoyas enter Tuesday's game with a 5-7 record after dropping their BIG EAST opener to Xavier on Friday evening. Four Hoyas reached double figures in the contest, with Primo Spears leading the way with a team-high 22 points to go along with two steals, an assist and a rebound.
  • Qudus Wahab was efficient from the floor, shooting 7-of-10 from the field. Wahab also grabbed a squad-best seven rebounds.
  • Brandon Murray and Jay Heath rounded out the quartet of Hoyas in double figures. Murray added 15 and Heath added 13 points, respectively. Murray dished out a team-best six assists.
  • Akok Akok was active on the defensive end against the Musketeers leading the team in blocks with two. Akok has 24 blocks on the season and is averaging two a game.
  • Spears' 17.6 ppg leads a quartet of Hoyas averaging double figures, followed by Brandon Murray (15.1 ppg), Heath (14.3 ppg) and Wahab (10.8 ppg).
  • On the glass, Wahab leads the team with 7.7 rpg while Wahab chips in 7.3 rpg.
  • Spears' 17.6 ppg ranks third in the league in scoring while Wahab's 7.7 rpg is fourth in the BIG EAST. Akok is tied for third in the BE with 2.0 bpg.
 
ABOUT THE NO. 2 HUSKIES
  • UConn is coming off a 68-46 win over Butler where Adama Sonogo and Jordan Hawkins managed to reach double figures.
  • Sanogo, who was named the BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year, put up 27 points and 14 rebounds on 13-of-21 shooting.
  • Sanogo is averaging 19.0 ppg and 7.3 rpg while Hawkins is averaging 14.2 ppg and 1.3 apg.
  • Freshman Donovan Clingan is the third leading scorer on the Huskies averaging 9.9 ppg while playing 14.7 minutes per game.
  • Dan Hurley is in his fifth season at the helm of the Huskies.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • Tuesday's matchup will be the 71st all-time dating back to 1958-59 with the Hoyas holding a narrow 36-34 edge.
