Georgetown Travels to Chicago to Face DePaul

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team heads to Chicago for a conference matchup with the DePaul University Blue Demons on Thursday. The Hoyas (5-8) are coming off an 84-73 loss at No. 2/2 UConn last week while DePaul is coming off an 80-65 loss at Creighton on Sunday, December 25.

  • Thursday's matchup can be seen live on FS2 with Wayne Randazzo calling the play-by-play and LaVall Jordan providing analysis.
  • The game will be broadcasted locally on 99.1 FM and nationally on Sirius XM 384 with Rich Chvotkin on the call for his 49th season.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Hoyas enter Thursday's game with a 5-8 record after dropping their last game at No. 2/2 UConn on December 20. All five GU starters reached double figures led by Primo Spears who had a game-high 19 points on 8-of-17 shooting. Spears added five rebounds and three assists in the setback.
  • Qudus Wahab was just short of a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. Wahab took a team-high 11 free throws making eight in 30 minutes of action.
  • Akok Akok, Jay Heath and Brandon Murray each added 10 points. Heath added six boards and shot 2-of-4 from behind the arc on the evening.
  • Akok added five rebounds and two blocks while Murray chipped in four rebounds, three assists and one steal.
  • Spears' 17.7 ppg leads a quartet of Hoyas averaging double figures, followed by Brandon Murray (14.6 ppg), Heath (13.9 ppg) and Wahab (11.2 ppg).
  • On the glass, Wahab leads the team with 7.8 rpg while Akok chips in 7.2 rpg.
  • Spears paces the offense with 4.5 apg. Murray manages a squad-best 1.5 spg while Akok's 2.0 bpg leads the squad.
 
ABOUT THE BLUE DEMONS
  • DePaul is coming off an 80-65 loss against Creighton on December 25.
  • Umoja Gibson and Jalen Terry lead the Blue Demons with 14 points a piece.
  • Eral Penn recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
  • Javan Johnson leads a trio of Blue Demons with 16.5 ppg, followed by Gibson (14.7 ppg) and Penn (11.4 ppg) to round out those in double figures.
  • Penn's 7.9 rpg is a squad best while Gibson paces the offense with 5.3 apg.
  • Tony Stubblefield enters his second season at the helm of the Blue Demons.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • Thursday's matchup will be the 47th all-time dating back to 1941-42. The Hoyas lead the series 33-13.
