WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University track & field program competed in the Sharon Colyear-Danvile Season Opener and the VMI Team Challenge on Saturday.

Maggie Donahue also set a new school record in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:43.98.
ON THE RECORD
"We were excited to get our Indoor Season under way at the VMI Team Challenge. This gave us an opportunity to experience a competitive environment before heading into the winter break. On the Men's side newcomer
Kadari Mitchell started his Hoya career off on a high note taking the sprint double winning the 60m in a new PB (6.84) and fought for the win in the 200m as well. The highlight of the meet goes to Eni's performance in the Women's Triple Jump. To break a school record that stood for almost 30 years is pretty special and doing so in the first meet of the season…on her last attempt was a joy to witness. Having been a there to see the old record being set by Jen McDermott who was my teammate makes this new record and PB for Eni that much more special. Kudos to Coach Williams as well to help get her to this tremendous achievement. We know there is more to come." Director of Cross Country/Track & Field
Alton McKenzie
"It was also fantastic to see some amazing performances in Boston. Matt's 1:48.75 800m season opener spells for great things to come this season. And
Maggie Donahue continues to cement herself in Georgetown's history books, breaking her own school Record in the 5K, running 15:43.98 today, capping off a great Indoor season opening weekend for the Hoyas!!" - Director of Cross Country/Track & Field
Alton McKenzie
"Matt Payamps ran an excellent race today. He dealt with some illness this fall but despite that is way ahead of where he was at this time last year. Last indoors his first 800 was 1:50 and 2 weeks later he broke the school record in the Mile in 3:55. I expect Matt will run much faster this coming winter than he did last winter." – Assistant Track & Field Coach
