Georgetown Hosts Villanova in Home Finale

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team will host the Villanova University Wildcats in GU's home finale on Tuesday evening at McDonough Arena. The opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear pink as the Hoyas will be celebrating their annual Play4Kay game.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (7-17, 2-14 BIG EAST) is coming off of a tough 90-49 loss to the No. 10/11 UConn Huskies on Sunday afternoon at XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut.
  • Graduate student Mary Clougherty led the way with 15 points as the lone Hoya in double figures. Sophomore Kelsey Ransom added eight points, three rebounds and two steals.
  • Senior Jillian Archer and freshman Ariel Jenkins both pulled down a squad-high five rebounds.
  • The Hoyas shot 32.1% (17-53) from the field and allowed 56.9% (33-58) shooting by the Huskies.
  • Georgetown was outrebounded by UConn 37-26, but the GU defense forced 21 Husky turnovers.
  • The Hoyas have two players averaging in double figures for the season as graduate student Milan Bolden-Morris and Ransom both have 12.6 ppg, respectively. Archer and junior Graceann Bennett round out the top four averaging 8.2 and 7.0 ppg, respectively.
  • Archer is also pulling down a squad-best 7.2 rpg.
  • Tuesday's game was rescheduled from January 9 which was postponed due to COVID-19.
About the Wildcats
  • Villanova is 18-7 on the season and 12-4 in BIG EAST Conference play.
  • The Wildcats are coming off of a big 73-64 victory over DePaul on Sunday in Pennsylvania.
  • Maddy Siegrist led the way with 25 points, while Lucy Olsen added 17 and Lior Garzon managed 12 points in the victory.
  • Leading the way for Villanova and the BIG EAST is Siegrist with 26.3 ppg to go along with a team-best 9.8 rpg.
  • She is followed by Garzon and Brianna Herlihy boasting 13.9 and 10.9 ppg, respectively.
Series History
  • The Hoyas are 24-47 all-time against the Wildcats and 14-17 at home.
  • Earlier this season, the squads met in Pennsylvania with Georgetown falling by a score of 76-57.
  • Bolden-Morris led the way with 14 points, while Archer and Ransom were also in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
  • GU's last home victory over Villanova was a 68-63 triumph during the 2018-19 campaign.
