WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team defeated visiting Loyola 14-7 in its nonconference finale on Tuesday, giving the Hoyas their first win over the Greyhounds since 2015. Senior
James Reilly broke the program record for career faceoff wins in the victory, his second record-setting performance in as many games for the Blue & Gray.
Hoya Highlights
- Georgetown improves to 11-1 on the season with the win.
- Dylan Watson led the Hoyas with five goals, Graham Bundy Jr. had three goals to go with two assists and Declan McDermott posted a hat trick as well.
- TJ Haley and Zachary Geddes both had a goal and an assist, Dylan Hess found the back of the net once and Alex Trippi dished out a trio of assists.
- Reilly won 13 of 24 faceoffs and collected 10 ground balls on the day. He broke Andy Corno's ('05) career faceoffs wins mark with 625 on his fourth victory at the 'X' in the game.
- Defensively, the Hoyas were credited with 11 caused turnovers including three from Will Bowen and two each from Will Godine and Owen McElroy.
- McElroy added five ground balls, Gibson Smith IV and Watson both had four and James Donaldson collected three.
- In goal, McElroy hauled in 12 saves.
- Georgetown's defense held Loyola to just 36 shots, 19 on goal, and held the Greyhounds scoreless for spans of 16:17 and 20:00.
Loyola Notes
- The Greyhounds fall to 5-7 overall.
- Davis Lindsey had two goals and three assists to pace Loyola while Kevin Lindley added two goals and an assist.
- Mustang Sally and Ryan McNulty both had a pair of caused turnovers for the Greyhounds while McNulty added seven ground balls.
- In goal, Sam Shafer had 17 saves in the loss.
How it Happened
- Georgetown scored in the opening minute of the game and went on a 3-0 run while holding the Greyhounds scoreless in the first quarter.
- Loyola rallied back with three goals in the first three minutes of the second frame, knotting things up at 3-3. The Hoyas responded by scoring the next seven goals, spanning parts of the second and third quarters, to lead 10-3.
- After scoring back-to-back goals to close out the third and pull within five, the Greyhounds gave up three-straight goals in a 2:32 span as the Hoyas put the game out of reach en route to a 14-7 victory.

- Reilly has now broken Corno's career ground balls and career faceoff wins records in back-to-back games.
- McElroy's 12 saves give him 519 for his career, passing Scott Schroeder ('02) for sixth place all-time.
- With his five goals, Watson now has 125 points for his career moves past Rickey Mirabito (B'10, S'11) for 18th all-time.
- Bundy's five points give him 109 and move into a tie with Travis Comeau ('13) for 25th place all-time.
