Hoyas Dropped by Villanova in Game One

Box Score WASHINGTON – The Georgetown softball team fell to Villanova 7-1 on Friday afternoon in the first game of the three-game series between the two sides. The Hoyas fall to 12-18 overall and 2-6 in conference play as the Wildcats are now 17-19 overall and 5-4 in the BIG EAST. GU and VU are set to play tomorrow, April 9 at noon.
 
How It Happened
  • Abby Smith's single to third in the top of the first was the only RBI the Hoyas earned as Mae Forshey crossed home to make it 1-0.
  • Villanova's Ryan Henry homered to raise the score 2-1 in the second.
  • Henry's fly ball to left brought Paige Rauch home (3-1).
  • Rauch's ground out to Hoya pitcher Julia Parker in the sixth advanced the Wildcat runners to bring Sydney Hayes home (4-1).
  • Later in the sixth Villanova was able to bring in two unearned runs from a dropped ball in centerfield (6-1).
  • The Wildcats' Kelsey White singled to left and Elaina Wagner crossed the plate to close out the game 7-1. 
  Of Note
  • The Hoyas had three hits on the afternoon.
  • Parker lead the team from the circle and now goes 4-9 on the season.
