Georgetown Athletics Honors Graduating Seniors

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University recognized its graduating seniors with in-person events over the past few days as more than 200 student-athletes were honored earning bachelor's and master's degrees.  Additionally, a number of student-athletes were honored with awards from their individual colleges during the festivities.

Maya Fernandez-Powell – Women's Soccer
Stephanie Waterman Medal
Walsh School of Foreign Service

The Stephanie Waterman Medal is named in memory of a student in the School of Foreign Service who was captain of the varsity tennis team and who died in Senegal in 1985. The medal is awarded to the outstanding scholar-athlete of the graduating class.
  • Appeared in 47 games for the Hoyas with five goals and 17 assists in her career on the Hilltop.
  • In her time at Georgetown, the team has won three BIG EAST Championships and made a run to the College Cup.
  • A three-time BIG EAST All-Academic Selection.
  • Helped lead a voter registration drive among student-athletes as a representative on the NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
  • Did a fellowship at the BMW Center for German and European Studies.
  • A regional and comparative studies major with a minor in French.
  • Will stay on the Hilltop to pursue a master's degree in applied intelligence, focusing on counterterrorism and cybersecurity.

Thomas Francis Graham Award
Georgetown College

The Thomas Francis Graham Award was founded by the Graham Family in memory of their father Thomas Francis Graham (C'1949). The honor of this award is bestowed upon a graduating senior of the College who has demonstrated throughout his or her college career concern for others, academic achievement, sportsmanship as a member of an intercollegiate team and dedication to the educational and spiritual goals of Georgetown University.
  • Appeared in 78 games with eight starts to her credit over the past four seasons.
  • Averaged 3.8 ppg and 3.0 rpg in her career on the Hilltop.
  • A team captain this past season.
  • Serves as the chief engagement officer for her non-profit, Rose From The Concrete, which focuses on mentorship, mutual aid and community services.
  • Worked with Project F.O.C.U.S. for more than five years.
  • A two-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection.
  • A justice and peace studies major.
Milan Bolden-Morris – Women's Basketball

School of Continuing Studies
  • Bolden-Morris completed a year and a half playing career on the Hilltop as a member of the women's basketball team.
  • After graduating from Boston College in December of 2020, the shooting guard joined the Blue & Gray midseason last year and made an immediate impact.
  • This past season, she started all 29 games for the Hoyas and led the team in scoring with 12.6 ppg as well as moving into third on Georgetown's all-time list with 83 3-pointers for the season which also led the BIG EAST Conference.
  • In her career, Bolden-Morris scored 1,145 points and was a three-time BIG EAST Honor Roll selection.
  • Her 107 3-pointers on the Hilltop rank her 13th all-time.
  • Was named BIG EAST All-Academic. 
  • Bolden-Morris made history in March being named a graduate assistant coach with the University of Michigan football team making her the first female graduate assistant coach at a Big Ten school and the first at a major FBS program.
  • She completed her master's in sports industry management at Georgetown and will pursue a second master's degree at Michigan.
The awards were distributed at Tropaia Ceremonies held by the individual school over the weekend. The word Tropaia, meaning trophy, is ancient Greek and referred to a monument constructed to celebrate a military victory. 

The Class of 2022 enjoyed enormous athletic successes, appearing in a combined 16 NCAA Tournaments and bringing 44 BIG EAST Team and Individual Championships home to the Hilltop.  Competing in both the BIG EAST Conference and the Patriot League, this year's senior class combined to garner more than 100 postseason all-league awards as well as being the recipients of at least 200 academic all-league honors.
